Frankfort Day 2020

Last Friday a group of Martin School students took a trip to Frankfort in order to learn more about the work done by different state agencies. 17 of us spent the day hearing from government employees and learning more about the ins and outs of professional life in Frankfort.

2020 Spring Seminar Series

The Martin School will host speakers from the Universities of Georgia, Chicago, Oregon, Colorado and Denver this year. They will be speaking on a variety of public policy topics of interest to the faculty, students and university at large. All are welcome.

Dr. Zimmer Is One of Top 200 Most Influential Policy Scholars

Rick Hess' "Straight Up" column at Education Week revealed its 2020 list of the top 200 "Edu-Scholar Public Influence Rankings," and Dr. Ron Zimmer is among the prestigious set. He placed 171st on the list, which selects two hundred scholars from a pool of "20,000 or more who might qualify," wrote Rick Hess. A 29 member selection committee processes the nominees and ranks them based on media exposure, mentions, syllabi and other measures reflecting popular public notice.

Martin Alumnus Kate Shanks named VP of Public Affairs for Kentucky Chamber of Commerce

Our graduates often go on to well-respected, valuable and impressive careers. Kate Shanks ('06) is no exception. On Monday November 11, 2019 she was named VP of Public Affairs for the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. We congratulate her on this deserved appointment and look forward to a stellar career.

Mike Duncan 2019 Public Service Hall of Fame Inductee

A Kentuckian whose career has touched the highest levels of government and politics over the course of four decades, Robert M. (Mike) Duncan of Inez, will be inducted into the Kentucky Public Service Hall of Fame on November 22 at Spindletop Hall in Lexington.
