MPA Alum Wesley Whistle named Special Assistant in the Department of Education

Congratulations to MPA alum, Wesley Whistle, on his new job as the Special Assistant for the Office of the Under Secretary of the Department of Education.  He is excited to work for the Biden-Harris Administration and to represent the Martin School!

MPA and MPFM Students win Association of Governmental Accountants(AGA) finance Case Challenge

This year we had 2 teams complete in the Association of Governmental Accountants(AGA) finance Case Challenge, a nation-wide annual competition requiring students to develop a Citizen Centric Report (CCR) for a large city and 4-page narrative explaining the process that was taken. This year the competition was for Chattanooga.

Martin School confers 1st public policy bachelor’s degree

During the University of Kentucky's December 2022 Commencement, the Martin School of Public Policy and Administration will celebrate the first student to receive a bachelor's degree in public policy from their undergraduate program. The Martin School began offering an undergraduate public policy major in Fall 2020. Previously, the school had offered only post-graduate master’s, certificate and Ph.D.

First Undergraduate Capstone Forum

On December 2, 2022, the public policy undergraduate program hosted its first ever Capstone Forum, where five seniors presented and discussed their research projects with the Martin School community. The posters and accompanying policy briefs ranged in topic from healthcare to education to environmental policy and beyond. The five seniors who presented this fall will be joined in the spring by two more students, and the seven represent the first undergraduate graduating class from the Martin School. They are:
