Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and Martin School to Host Webinar

As a follow up to last year’s successful webinar roundtable policy discussions, the Martin School and the Chamber of Commerce will host a roundtable webinar examining the relationship between Kentucky’s quality of life and economic development and the role policies can play in the relationship. The program will be at 12:00 noon on July 27th.

Martin School collaborates with College of Design for new master's program

In a collaboration with the College of Design, we are proud to announce a fully online Master of Heritage Resources Administration (MHRA) which combines historic preservation with management and public administration.  Students take core courses and electives in both Historic Preservation and the Martin School, culminating in our PA 681 capstone.

Alum John Hicks Appointed Gov. Beshear’s Executive Cabinet Secretary

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear has appointed Martin School graduate John Hicks as Executive Cabinet Secretary, succeeding J. Michael Brown, who is retiring from state government. Hicks, who earned his Master of Public Administration degree from the Martin School in 1984, will continue serving as State Budget Director.

Sarah Ausmus Smith is graduating with her PhD in Public Policy and Administration

Sarah recently defended her dissertation "Three Essays on Governance, Inequality and Social Equity" and will graduate May 6, 2022.  The next chapter in her career will start in Richmond, Virginia where she will join the Commonwealth's Department of Social Services as a Senior Research Associate.

Former Gov. Collins, UK's Birdwhistell to Be Honored at Martin School Event

Former Kentucky Gov. Martha Layne Collins will be honored as the Kentucky Public Service Hall of Fame's newest member April 29 at a breakfast hosted by the University of Kentucky's Martin School of Public Policy and Administration.

Martin School Ranks 29th Nationally in Graduate Public Affairs and 4th in Public Finance and Budgeting

Today, U.S. News and World Report released their annual college rankings. The hard work of our faculty and staff resulted in national recognition as we are ranked 29th among all Public Affairs program, 4th in Public Finance and Budgeting, and 29th in Public Policy and Analysis.

Workforce-Aligned Scholarship Programs are Focus of Martin School Grant Award

Dr. Ron Zimmer and Dr. Rajeev Darolia collaborated to win a half-million dollar grant from the Walton Family Foundation to study the effectiveness of workforce-aligned scholarship programs.
