The MPA program does not require any prerequisites. The MPP program requires college algebra and statistics. The MPFM does not have any prerequisites.
When considering MPA applicants, we look for applicants with strong performance and an interest in public administration, management and leadership which may be demonstrated through relevant undergraduate courses, work or volunteer experience. The MPFM program concentrates coursework on public financial management matters including governmental/nonprofit accounting and auditing courses not included in the MPA. We look for students with a strong undergraduate history and we also consider work history as a part of the application. Offered 100% online, the MPFM is suitable for those students seeking graduate education in the public budgeting/finance field while juggling work, family, and other responsibilities. The MPP program is designed for those students with an interest in research positions and/or interest in pursuing a Ph.D. program in a related field of study.
