Public Financial Management Certificate

The Graduate Certificate in Public Financial Management is designed for working professionals and traditional students seeking to increase their public finance and financial management knowledge, which are vital assets for leaders in both government and non-profit organizations. The Martin School is among the top graduate programs in the nation for Public Financial Management; the certificate can be completed as a stand-alone program or as part of our Masters programs.

PA 631 Public Financial Management (1st 8 weeks)

PA 632 Public Funds Management (2nd 8 weeks)

Spring

PA 625 Governmental Accounting and Financial Condition Analysis (1st 8 weeks)

PA 627 Governmental Auditing (2nd 8 weeks)

Requirements for Admission

Admissions Criteria

  • Must have obtained a baccalaureate degree, prior to the start of the admission term, from a fully accredited U.S. institution of higher learning or from a recognized foreign institution. See Graduate School admissions for specifics.
  • An overall grade point average of 2.5 on undergraduate work and 3.00 on all graduate work, if applicable.
  • International applicants whose native language is not English must submit either a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score. See Graduate School admissions for specifics.

If this is the only program you intend to enroll in, please apply as "non-degree seeking."

Applications for the Public Financial Management Certificate are only accepted for the Fall or Spring semester.

Tuition & Student Visas

Certificate students pay the in-state tuition rate when enrolled in fully online courses; please note that admission and enrollment in a fully-online program can NOT lead to the issuance of a J-1 or F-1 student visa.  Per state laws, distance education courses and programs must be legally authorized in a state prior to offering courses or programs to students residing there.

KY School District Finance Officers

Of special interest to Kentucky School District Finance Officers and personnel, the Kentucky Department of Education has approved the Graduate Certificate in Public Financial Management for training credits to be applied to mandatory continuing education requirements. The program's Training Code is FO-245. Applicants are encouraged to contact KDE directly for details.
