In October, thirteen students, Katie Sanders, and Dr. Hackbart visited our nation's Capitol for our professional development trip. This year's trip was a mix of old and new-- the group reconnected with old friends and made some new contacts, too!

The group visited with professionals from a variety of organizations, including:

  • Government Accountability Office,
  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,
  • Environmental Protection Agency,
  • Economic Development Administration,
  • Department of Housing and Urban Development,
  • Catholic Charities USA,
  • Urban Institute,
  • Heritage Foundation,
  • Council of State Governments,
  • Congressional Budget Office,
  • And legislative aides from Representative Andy Barr's office.

Students heard a variety of perspectives on topics ranging from effective job search techniques to find the perfect internship or job in DC, to what the most important skills are to be successful in a particular career path.
